I won’t lie to you, the first collab the never-ageing Pharrell did with Adidas didn’t ignite much excitement in me, I thought it was plain and average and blah. But the Supercolor collab launched (27th March) and I found myself thinking about getting my hands on one or maybe even two pairs. I am also heavily biased towards anything that is available in the colours burnt orange or acid lime for reasons unbeknownst to me (I was born with this attraction).
Adidas Originals Superstar Supercolor
Ok, so I do appreciate a well thought out colour injection but I always retreat back to my home of neutrals and the warm familiar embrace of black. So I’m trying to free myself from the chains of all black (Stockholm Syndrome) and I feel this is a good first step, the purchase of a Supercolor. I love the amount of choice (50 colours) but I also hate it because it makes me want all of them…for every shade of my mood (obvs) (my mood is super teal right now).
I’ve been holding back on getting a pair for the following reasons:
- Will the shell toe look good hanging off of my ankles of will it look too Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? That ruled out a green pair.
- Is the shape too classic? Not like Chanel 2.5 classic or Hermès tie classic but Fila sweatshirt classic or K Swiss classic. I then came to the realisation that they are the right level of classic and reprimanded myself for thinking otherwise.
- Will I see someone else wearing my Supercolor and immediately feel defensive? “I’m definitely a turquoise, the rest of her outfit screams a burgundy…she’s giving us turquoises a bad name…” This may just be something that goes through my mind as evidently I have a fashion-associated psychological problem.
In conclusion, there’s nothing holding me back from jumping on this colourful train and injecting some actual colour into my life, apart from the fact I can’t decide on my Supercolor…but I might be able to whittle it down to two…or three…
