Otherwise known as the it-dress of the moment, this monochrome delight from Anthony Vaccarello is something I wouldn’t usually go for. If you would have told me: “OMG Cassie, there’s this super hot 60s-looking, monochrome mini dress with one long sleeve by Anthony Vaccarello – you’ll love it!” I would have rolled my eyes and questioned our friendship. The 60s look is definitely not my thing, and I don’t do asymmetrical sleeves anymore following one dress I’m now trying to shift on eBay (to no avail, I might add).
Anthony Vaccarello “AN” Dress
Why have things changed? Why am I semi-obsessed with this one dress by a designer I’ve previously not really paid that much attention to (but that’s changed, and his collaboration with Versus is HOT)? Well, because it’s possibly the perfect mix of everything I’d usually hate.
On the hanger I wouldn’t have looked twice at this dress, but seeing it editorially and on people made me change my perception of this monochrome mini. I love the huge lettering over the front of the dress, it’s unexpected. The asymmetrical arm is done very well, and the fit is slightly loose which I love as is there nothing worse than a girl with an arse try to to pull of a 60s-esque dress and have it pulling over thighs and baggy everywhere else. The looser fit means it can be quite casual too – the dress could be paired with some Aquazzurras or black high tops and still work.
Available from farfetch, £1,860.
