Well, well, well, Wang knows how to throw a hot party. The Alexander Wang NYFW SS16 show marked the 10 year anniversary of the brand (Wang, why do you look so youthful? What do you use? Tell me the name of your doctor) and of course such a milestone deserves a celebration of sorts… After the show the attendees were treated to branded Jell-O shots, and the sexy delights of some pole dancers (I heard Wang was at the delivering end of a money gun too) until Ludacris, Lil Wayne and Tinashe performed (just so you know I’m trying to keep it together and not let the seed of envy grow too tall…*sigh* it’s too late).
Celebrities love Wang and Wang loves celebrities which is why the front row was held down by Lady Gaga, Mary J Blige, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, Kanye, Kylie Jenner etc.you get where this is going. Wang gets it. He gets the rap scene, he gets the casual, laid-back thing and he just smashes it. Wang is super wearable and very street – in the 90s fashion way (mesh & bucket hats) and the street style way.
Alexander Wang SS16
Again, the pyjama theme is coming through for SS16 and I can so see Rihanna rocking some of these. I loved the fact that AW10 was a part of a lot of the pieces marking the anniversary plus that makes those pieces super collectable (just think of your great grandchildren on antiques roadshow many years from now). The pieces are super laid-back so not too figure-hugging and I love the jersey ribbed material used for the nightie inspired maxi day dress and skirt. The shoes you may think are questionable but watch them become a huge staple come SS next year. Am I ever so slightly sad that only a couple of pieces fit with my style? Yes, but I’ll get over it.
Happy 10th Birthday Alexander Wang!
