The Spoils of Balmain X H&M

I have tactics when it comes to H&M and designer collaborations. These involve logging onto the H&M website (not HM.com but HM.com/gb/Balmain – see? Tactics) 10/15 minutes before the collection actually drops and refreshing the page on every single device I have until the site actually loads. During this time, which took me 35/40 minutes, I curse H&M and ask myself why, when they know demand is going to be ridiculous, do they not have things in place so that I don’t have to go through this every collaboration and get high blood pressure. I contemplate tweeting something very rude to their customer service account, then re-consider, then send a slightly less-rude tweet to their customer service account.

BALMAIN X H&M

Balmain X H&M

Of the 4 H&M designer collabs that I’ve participated in, the Balmain X H&M drop was the worst I’ve encountered. Remember in this post how I was after the pearl jacket and black & gold dress? Both were sold out by the time I got on, which I’ll get over and I have my own issues with H&M hosting a shopping event the night before which I have a feeling affected the stock level – yes, I’m bitter, I’ll admit it.

So I basically, came, saw and conquered everything I could possibly want then if I hated it I could always return it or make a nice profit on eBay. I’m an excellent friend to know when it comes to these things – I got u ;).

Here’s my run down – I ended up just keeping the beaded dress. The annoying thing about this collection is that the sizing is way off (and I’m not just saying this because I had to buy a size up), it comes up very small and luckily I’d read an article mentioning this so I bought 12s instead of 10s. Even the beaded dress (a 12), which is prefect for me around the arse (usually a struggle), I can hardly move my arms in (and my arms are pretty svelte), I straight up look like a Lego character moving around but it’s insanely sparkly and the quality is incredible. Also, this dress is at least 5kg, it’s the heaviest thing I’ve ever worn. The blazer dress is also amazing quality, but it isn’t tailored so unless you do have a Gigi Hadid/Kendall Jenner body, this doesn’t look quite right as a dress…so that bitch got shipped back *sigh*.

Basically I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the collection but with such a limited collection without a chance for us mere mortals to try the sizes, the sizing was annoyingly off.
