Jeremy Scott is one of those cleaver creative designers who knows the consumer mindset – his Moschino SS16 collection showed and then a week after he released part of the collection because he knew we’d be gagging for it off the catwalk. When he showed his eponymous label, he collaborated with reigning plastic shoe brand Melissa to create the inflatable barbie shoe, then decided to release this way before the Jeremy Scott SS16 drop. Now let’s talk about these Jeremy Scott x Melissa Mules...

As soon as I saw them I thought they were super cool – they were exactly the same as all the tiny mules my Barbies wore but in deliciously sickly colours – I thought they were hilarious and stupidly clever (as the majority of Jez’ designs), and, as my mind works, I was like…#NEED. I thought everyone thought similarly to me but when I decided to circulate this picture to my friends asking their thoughts pretty much everyone, no, actually everyone, questioned my sanity a bit. ARE THEY NOT MAGICAL!? Do they not bridge a strange adult-child gap that will have me feeling just a little like that blonde plastic figure I wanted to be when I was 4? I will confess, I tried these bad boys on and felt very Stepford. They’re very Edie Britt from Desperate Housewives, they’re very “I’m sleeping with your husband” and I think they’re brilliant. Imagine them in the summer, with jeans or with a semi-conservative dress to inject just a whisp of fun, OMG…imagine them with my dashikis… *spits out snack and scrambles over keyboard to purchase online*[yop_poll id=”3″]
