When I saw this collection I almost had a cardiac arrest. I was casually scrolling through the pre-fall runway collections, thinking they were beautiful, sure, but nothing was jumping out at me. Nothing tempted me to sell my life’s possessions in an attempt to buy one piece of the collection. Nothing made me spit out the water I was drinking in awe of the majesty my eyes had fallen upon, that is until I saw the Balmain Pre Fall 2016 collection. There’s only one word to describe this collection: Versailles. So you know I was all over it.

This collection was more Couture (with a capital C) than pre-fall, the intricacy alone of each piece, the glittering swish off movement of the flapper-esque dresses, the pain-staking embroidery. Half of these dresses are so beautifully embellished they look like chandeliers. As usual, the sexy, confident Balmain woman is at the centre of the collection, with cinched waists, exceptional tailoring and a few seductive cut outs. It was Louis XIV, it was Marie Antoinette, it was lavish and opulent. Apart from being obsessed with the whole collection the piece that would make me beat a bitch for it would be the emerald and black floor length dress with tassels draping on the floor and shimmering around one’s tastefully exposed cleavage which is imprisoned by embellished fishnet detailing. It’s too much, that it’s perfect.
What did you think of the collection? Any fave looks?
