Yeezy Season 3

You may have heard that Kanye sold out Madison Square Garden for his Yeezy Season 3 collection and the debut of his new album “The Life of Pablo“, previously known as both Swish and Waves. He then decided to live stream the whole thing to cinemas all over the world and on Tidal (sorry Jay Z but who even uses Tidal!?). I went. Not to Madison Square Garden (MSG) *sigh* but to the cinema to see this with my own eyes on a big screen. Here’s how Yeezy Season 3 went down:

Yeezy Season 3

It was late starting. Of course it was. But not ridiculously late so I wasn’t mad about it. 18,000 people filled out MSG and in the centre were 2 billowing parachutes. Then the Kardashian/Jenner Klan came swanning out in mainly white, all fur and sparkles in a Yeezy/Balmain hybrid. Olivier Rousteing was there, as was Anna Wintour, Karlie Kloss, Carine Roitfeld (who Kanye referred to as a real bitch…in a good way) amongst others from the fashion crowd. Then Kanye walked in with Lamar Odom (!) and took his place for the evening behind some DJ decks surrounded by A$AP Rocky, Frank Ocean (!), Young Thug, and 2 Chainz to name a few.

Half way through his first song “Ultra Light Beams” the parachutes opened up to many a Yeezy clad model standing around – some sat down periodically during the show, some were smoking, some cried at some point. The set up of the show was that the models didn’t do much, and Kanye played his new album and everyone was free to dance if they liked, which Kanye did a lot and North did a little. Oh, Naomi Campbell sashayed out of somewhere and stood as part of the set, looking sassy and glorious draped in mink. Photographers weaved in and out of the models taking pics.

Yeezy Season 3 Review

Clothes-wise, I’m still unimpressed by the Yeezy collection, but this time there was one shearling jacket I wasn’t mad about and there was a little more colour. Interestingly enough, the cameras didn’t show directly any of the new Yeezy 350s so they’re still a surprise to us and Yeezy declared more will be made in higher quantities and cheaper. He also showed a snippet of some strange video game he’s made of his mother journeying through the gates of heaven…I still don’t know if this was a joke or not.

Kanye didn’t come across as crazy. He came across as proud of his creations and even self-deprecating at times and a little funny. Oh apart from when he said he wanted to be creative director of Hermes for a couple of years… Btw, the new album sounds amazing. I’m sure Yeezy made a lot of people mad at NYFW because let’s be honest, it’s gonna take a lot to snatch the shine from the whole theatre of Yeezy Season 3.

I do find his clothes line interesting. It gives a different perspective to who he is other than just an outspoken music artist.

I have a lot of respect for him branching out creatively into different areas, you’re right it gives him more dimension but the courses themselves aren’t for me 🙂
