I was casually going about my life when I stumbled across Filling Pieces online and almost went into cardiac arrest with how deep I fell in love-at-first-sight with these glorious creations. They’re so on-trend it’s actually ridiculous. What is every girl on Instagram posting about and obsessing over? Anything ombré and anything “nude” (get your mind out of the gutter you dirty scoundrel). The amount of pictures captioned “*heart eyes* Nudes” or worse, a pic of nude clothes and/or shoes with the caption “My kind of nudes *sly face*” (newsflash: it’s not sly) I come across on the daily is kind of weird. Everything is about blush pink and greige and neutrals and suede (suede anything is in right now).
Filling Pieces has snatched this trend and run with it, and as much as I’m not so much about the nudes as the next girl is I’m about that suede/pastels trend on my feet. The Filling Pieces women’s collection is huge for a sneaker brand (thank you God), because although we have tits, we like sneakers too, and surprisingly it covers a wide range of styles, colours and materials (love). From high tops to slip ons, from chained leather detailing to mesh inserts, from ombré effects to two tones pairs with contrasting straps I fell into a deep dark hole of lust as I was scrolling through the site. I, of course, have my faves, which made it to my ever-growing wish list – I’m particularly in love with the high top transformed huar veg tan and the low top tone coral... I have room for a couple more in my sneaker family…
I love the shape of the sneakers, the treads are thick but not chunky and the materials used on the upper of the shoe look quite relaxed (if that’s the right word), to give a perfectly casual l-just-threw-this-on-and-it-still-looks-bomb look. Obviously the suede/nubuck and leather used gives the shoe a more luxurious look compared to the majority of trainers out right now, especially around this price point. Personally, I’m obsessed and I need a pair…or three.
