If the Alexander Wang SS17 show has taught us anything it’s that now is the time to hit the gym hard in order to get that body right before S/S rolls around, because there are far too many bralettes for me to ignore. Three things are very prominent throughout Wang’s latest show: poplin, pyjamas and surfwear. I am particularly fascinated by the waist harnesses making an appearance on pretty much every other model that swanned down the catwalk (#need). I love it. Sure, it makes me feel very guilty about that chicken waffle burger I ate yesterday but damn, I think I love this new form of accessorising.
Alexander Wang SS17
I’m going to let you go ahead and form your own opinions on the SS17 collection but I’ll summarise and pull out a few faves of my own. Having previously not been a fan of the whole wearing-pyjamas-recreationally-thing I’m liking the fluro pyjama shorts and skirts with a cute black lace trim – super easy to throw on as the sun beats down on you in the summertime, when you literally can’t be arsed to wear clothes let alone select them to be fashionable. Also attention must be given to the sandals (not the moccasins, I hate the moccasins, I’m not a moccasin kinda girl), I’m dying over the clear pair with ankle embellishments but I also equally in love with the matching black leather pair #need.
Downsides of the collection? Imma need to hit the gym ASAP in order to wear any of these pieces and I feel like only those of us “blessed” with smaller tits will be able to keep things PG in the bralettes.
Ever the master of surprise, need I remind you of the pole dancers and money guns from SS16, the models strutted down in Alexander Wang X Adidas Originals. Wang has gone ahead and flipped the logo on Adidas for his new collection and keeps everything black on black, which Wang always does well. It’s very true to Adidas Originals but still very Wang – the day after the show a pop up truck drove around NYC for a chance to cop the collection before it lands online and in stores next year. Wang – always keeping things interesting.
